Columbian Hospital, on Meridian Hill, Washington, DC was a part of Columbian University, later named George Washington University, was a US Military Hospital during the Civil War. During the War President Linclon visited sick and wounded soldiers at the Hospital and Walt Whitman nursed soldiers there. An Original Columbian Hospital Veteran Reserve Corps Letter with ptd logo "Columbian Hospital", Washington, DC, dated April 11, 1864, from Captain Thomas Middleton, VRC officer, certifying that Private James Moony of the 12th Veteran Reserve Corp Regiment hasn't been paid. Comes w Private Moony's service info- he served as a Bugler in the 5th New York Cavalry. The Veteran Reserve Corp was manned by wounded or sick soldiers who could perform light duty.
