Unmarked Cavalry Sword Sabre Pre CIVIL WAR? The blade measures a hair over 35 & 3/4.

This is an Italian 1834 Dragoon Saber. And inspected by Roatis Francesco with the RF stamp on both the blade and the hilt. Lot of them were manufactured in Solingen and many were bought up in the early stages of the Civil War. Italy was fighting their Unification wars in the same period. Could be a family heirloom brought in by immigrants.

No way to tell which is the case. The Danes started using these in 1843. If someone tells you the Danes invented these first, they're wrong. The Italians introduced the hilt in 1828.
