Nice U. S. CIVIL War Cavarly Sword Model 1840

This is a good example of an U. Cavalry Sword, Model 1840 and is one of the many imports used during the American Civil War. This particular one is mounted with very nice curved, unmarked blade that measures an impressive 36 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only minor surface staining. The multi-branched brass guard remains beautiful as well and has developed a lovely aged patina. The leather covered hilt reflects good honest wear with some of the leather now missing, nevertheless does continue to wear its original twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The metal scabbard has beautifully patined with age and does remain in very nice condition as well with no dings.
