Nice U. S. CIVIL War Era Cavalry Sword Model 1840

This is a good example of an U. Cavalry Sword, Model 1840 and is one of the many imports used during the American Civil War. This particular one is mounted with very nice curved blade that measures 36 1/4 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and wears a very nice Rooster Stamp upon the ricasso.

The multi-branched brass guard remains beautiful as well and has developed a pretty aged patina framing a weathered leather covered hilt which reflects good honest wear but the hilt does remain tightly in place. The metal scabbard also remains in very nice condition with only one very small ding near the throat.
