Nice U. S. CIVIL War Foot Officer Sword Model 1850

This is a very nice example of one of the many import Swords used during the American Civil War Era. This particular Model 1850 Foot Officer Sword is mounted with a lovely etched blade that measures 32 inches in length. The blade shows to have been cleaned in recent years, nevertheless the U. Etching is still present along either side and it does remain in good condition with just some minor surface staining. The lovely brass guard is intricately detailed and has survived in wonderful condition.

It wears a healthy fishskin covered hilt that continues to wear its original twisted wire still tightly in place. Overall measuring 37 5/8 inches in length.
