Nice U. S. CIVIL War Import Cavalry Sword M 1840

This is an example of an U. Cavalry Sword, Model 1840 and is one of the many imports used during the American Civil War. This particular one is mounted with very nice curved, unmarked blade that measures 35 5/8 inches in length which remains in very nice, unsharpened condition and with only some minor surface blemishes. The multi-branched brass guard remains in very nice, tight condition and has now developed a pretty aged patina. The original leather wrap of the hilt is long gone, revealing the wooden hilt that although has an aged hairline crack does remain very healthy and tight as well.
