Nice U. S. CIVIL War Officer Staff And Field Sword Model 1850

This is a good example of an U. Staff and Field Officer's Sword, Model 1850. It is mounted with a blade that measures 34 inches in length which shows to have been cleaned over the years with only traced of the original etching still present, nevertheless does remain in good condition with just some minor staining and light scratches. The very nice guard is designed with intricately detailed pierced work that includes an "US" as well as floral motifs and a lovely engraved Shield with stars upon the pommel face. It wears a fishskin covered hilt that remains healthy with its original twisted wire wrap still present.

The wonderful metal scabbard features beautiful brass fittings that are fabulously engraved and remains very nice in its condition as well with only a few dings to the base fitting.
