Up for sale is an EXCELLENT paper lot pertaining to the Baggott Family of Columbia, SC. Every piece of this is Civil War dated or just before! This family was very prominent in SC with Elisha and James serving in the 2nd SC Artillery.
Most of this lot pertains to Elisha, as James was killed at Secessionville, SC manning his gun. The last photos are of a letter between the family and the Confederate treasury trying to get his back pay. There are first hand accounts of him being killed in battle. Elisha became a lawyer during the war.
Their family owned large plantations with many slaves. The slave documents were bought by another collector.Excellent paper lot with many Confederate documents! It has been together for 150 years and I could not bring myself to separate. THIS FAMILY HAS TONS of information on them online.
