Original Civil War letter battle of Farmington MS May 22, 1962, letters 1860's

This letter dated May 22, 1862 (see below transcript) describes the detailed accounts of this Union soldier (from Michigan), including food rations, numbers of soldiers, what his role was as a soldier. Extremely interesting and detailed describing his first hand accounts. He mentions the deserters receiving only half the rations the Union soldiers were issued.

There are subsequent letters between this soldier and soon to be wife in Michigan and after marriage when he is at a University. The letters measure 5" x 8" and are folded. There are several poems and Bible versus too. The yellow envelopes included in this lot have addresses going to Albion or Newton Michigan.
