Original Civil War U. S. Navy Overcoat from Museum

We are Pioneer Heroes Museum, in Casa Grande, AZ. We are downsizing some of our overstock items, and this is the chance to own an original Civil War Period Naval Frock Coat, of absolute museum quality. The coat passes down in the Hill family, having belonged to Harrington Roland Hill, a Union Civil War Captain from Ohio. As he was infantry, it is tough to know how he got this Naval coat, although because of the heavy wool lining, rare, it is not out of the question, that he wore it as an infantry man, without regard to the buttons.

The name Hill appears inside, in period letters and writing. Striped brown wool lining, deep blue naval color, very little if any fading or exposure damage.

Looks like it is brand new, but is in fact from the year 1864, we believe. Never seen a better overcoat than this one. Sleeves are standard wide elbow, civil war era style. None of the highest officers would have worn a better coat. We are a museum, with an outstanding collection of original clothing.
