This example is in very nice shape with only a couple of dents and a few areas of surface rust. I do not see any holes or cracks in this example.
All three of the strap loops are in tact, and the spout is in excellent shape. A piece of the original cork is down inside of the canteen. Each of the loops has blue cloth on them.
This cloth is the same color and material that Union uniforms were made of, so I strongly suspect these fragments were from the original soldier's uniform that he put on this canteen for display. Solid example that would be hard to upgrade!
