RARE Civil War pair of Union shoulder boards or straps. The embroidered border is surrounded by an inner and outer jaceron border. I believe these designated Lt.

One of them has an area of loose threads on the border. Background field definitely looks black to my eye, although it looks dark blue in the pix.

Actual embroidered area is 3 3/4" across x 1 1/4" wide. Some background fabric protrudes beyond that. I also have other Civil War things up for sale in other auctions- please check them out.
