Post US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword withScabbard-W. Clauberg Solingen
Post US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked W. The fixed clamshell displays the usual design. The leather grip is 95% gone and the wire wrap is 99% gone, only 1 small piece remains by the pommel cap. The knuckleguard and grip do wiggle, they also have a very dark patina that matches the scabbard. The etched blade has darkened but you can make out most of the designs on it, it hasn't been sharpened, but the last 1/4 at the tip has a very slight bend. The scabbard has a dark patina with light surface rust scattered throughout, and the drag is missing.
Length of the blade measures 30 1/8", length of the sword is 35 1/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 35 1/2. Check out my other War items!!
