Early 1800's Widmann Eaglehead Officers Sword with Brass Scabbard. The underside of the guard is marked F. The brass guard and copper wire grip wiggle a little, the eaglehead pommel cap wiggle slightly more.
The clamshell has an unusual design, the quillion has been broken. The etched blade still has some light traces of gold, the etchings are more worn the further down the blade you go, there are some light age spots scattered throughout (mainly towards the lower half), the edges have several nicks, and. The last 1 1/2 near the blunted tip has the heaviest wear. The brass scabbard is highly detailed and solid, only a few small minor dents.
Length of the blade measures 31 3/4" (1" wide x 1/4" thick), the sword alone is 36 5/8", and. Widmann made swords in Philadelphia from 1816 to 1848.
