Rare Antique Leather Civil War Officer's Wrap-Around Leather Wallet. DESCRIPTION: Particularly nice, original antique CIVIL WAR period wrap around brown leather wallet. Consists of 2 separate sections, each with inner compartments. Made of pliable, extremely thin, smooth brown leather, nicely sewn with fine stitching. Has the separate internal sections and flaps as shown.
When folded, has a great 1 1/4 wide flat flap. This type of large leather pocket wallet was popular and useful during the Civil War, especially popular with army officers to protect their "greenbacks" and personal papers in the field. Also very useful and used by enlisted men as well. Measures 4" long x 7" wide when closed up, opening to about 17 1/2.
