Carte de Visites were the most popular format during the war years, and including military and political leaders in your CdV album was very popular. They were celebrities and this was the best way to collect them, without having the various other methods we have today. So this is an especially great addition to an album, and one not often seen. HIS C d V IS RARE AND AN AUTOGRAPHED CdV IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF!!! AND A GREAT, BOLD, CLEAR ONE TO BOOT!!
THIS ONE IS A PARTICULARLY NICE EXAMPLE AS HE IS IDENTIFIED ON THE REVERSE IN PERIOD PENCIL HANDWRITING. This one was no doubt in an original Civil War period CdV album. Very clear, in excellent condition.
