This is a museum-quality example of the Civil War/War Between the States period United States Cavalry bridle AND bit. It is hard to imagine finding a nicer one for sale -- or needing one.
This will improve any display of war-time or immediate post war US Cavalry horse equipment. The leather is of course somewhat fragile after 160 years or more, but it is flexible and workable and no parts on the bridle are broken short.
In fact, I undid the entire bridle and worked all of the buckles and billets in the process of taking the pictures for this listing. The reins have been neatly cut at the point where they attach to the bit. Howevr they are otherwise in good shape -- and quite rare in any condition let alone as nice as these.
All parts of the bridle and reins are present. Leather is flexible and retains most of its black finish.Buckles are in good shape with minor rust and retain substantial portions of their original finish. Bit is in excellent condition.
