Post US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Presentation Sword with Scabbard. Ricasso marked "Springfield Armory" over Springfield, Mass. The guard and pommel cap are tight but the grip does wiggle.
The grip shows very little wear, it is 99% complete, the twisted wire is complete and barely loose. The double fixed clamshell has the typical eagle with flags on it on one side but there is a 1/16 hole under the left foot of the eagle, and on the other fixed clamshell is a shield with crossed cannons, swords, and rifle. The etched blade is straight, unsharpened, bright and clean except for a few extremely light age spots throughout, and the tip is sharp. The scabbard is solid with no dents, and nickel loss freckles throughout with some light surface rust.
Length of the blade measures 31. (5/8" wide x 1/4" thick).
Length of the sword is 37 3/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 39". Check out my other War items!! WE CAN'T FIX A PROBLEM IF WE AREN'T INFORMED THAT THERE IS ONE! The item "Springfield Armory Post US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword withScabbard" is in sale since Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
