He loved gem stone hunting and civil war relics. He was part of the Virginia Gem and Mineral Society along with the Historical Society, so most times he was able to dig in an area before anyone else was allowed in. I would go with him occasionally and can 100% say these items are authentic and found around the Richmond, Petersburg, Chesterfield, Chester and Hopewell, areas.
I used to live only a few miles away from The Halfway House. It has been stamped on the back US Allegheny Arsenal. It also has, from what I can make out the number 94 stamped into the corner. This features the 13 stars above the eagle.
The latch is in good condition and intact. I have posted a picture of the buckle, front and back, and tried to make it so all script can be read. If you would like to see anything else on them Id be happy to send. I will be listing many more items, box/cartridge plates, breast plates, mini balls/bullets, officer buckles, etc. So, please look at my other items if youre interested in anything else.
