U. S. Civil War Calvary Sword Saber P 1822 Unmarked

This is an example of one of the many import variations of Cavalry Swords used during the U. Civil War and this particular one is a Pattern 1822, is unmarked and remains in uncleaned, attic condition. It is mounted with a slightly curved unmarked blade that measures 35 5/8 inches in length that although is stained, does remain in good condition. The multi-branched guard has now richly patined with age nevertheless remains tight and sturdy framing a leather wrapped hilt that is healthy and continues to wear a portion of its original twisted wire wrap.

The metal scabbard has also deeply patined with only traces of its original plating still present. Overall measuring 41 1/2 inches in length.
