This is a very nice example of a Musician Sword, Model 1840 and is "a classic" of the U. This particular one has survived in very good, original condition and is mounted with a blade that measures 28 inches in length.

The blade wears the marking of the famous "Ames Mfg & Co" on one side of the ricasso and is dated U. 1864 on the other side and does remain in very nice original condition. The brass hilt has an inspector's mark on the stirrup and remains in very nice original condition as well with a beautiful aged patina now developed. The lovely leather scabbard is brass fitted and although shows an old leather repair, does remain in good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 35 3/8 inches in length.
