Edward Barnes and Sons worked between 1833 - 1888. In 1845 He and his two sons Isaac & Edward junior moved to Solly street Sheffield. By 1868 they had again moved to the Wheeldon Works. Barnes was a prolific maker of Bowie knives for the USA market before the US Civil War.
This knife was certainly made before the US Civil War and may well have been used in that conflict. He had trademarked his "US" trade logo.
By 1888 the business was closed. These IMAGES ARE my actual CONDITION DESCRIPTION So if I have failed to show anything clearly?Any questions please MESSAGE ME. Receipt will be issued on request.
