US Civil War Model 1840 Ames Cabotville Heavy Cavalry Sword-Dated 1850

US Civil War Model 1840 Ames MFG Co. The ricasso is marked "Ames" over "Cabotvi" and "1850" on one side and "US" over A. The grip is tight, missing 35% of the leather wrap but the original wire wrap is complete and slightly loose. The blade is near mint (probably cleaned at some point), no nicks, very light scratches from the in and out of a scabbard, unsharpened, and the tip is sharp. The leather washer is intact. Length of the blade is 35 3/4" (1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick), and the sword overall is 41 1/4". 1 of only 2530 swords dated 1850 and made by Ames. Check out my other Civil War Items!
