US Civil War Staff & Field Officers Sword Probably Tiffany Great Condition

Here we offer a fine condition Staff & Field Officers Sword. It is probably Tiffany made. The reason for this attribution is In John H. Thillmann's classic Book " CIVIL WAR ARMY SWORDS " page 381 is an almost identical hilt style and the same style quillon finial. Also the blade was made by " PDL " P.

Luneschloss of Germany and Tiffany did not make any blades as they were a jeweler they imported all their blades and most from "PDL ". The hilt is excellent with a black rayskin grip (which was favored by Tiffany) with all the wire wraps and in great condition. The slightly curved blade is in fine antique condition and profusely etched with designs including " US " and the US Eagle, see photos. The reverse ricasso has the stamp of " PDL ".
