US Civil War Tiffany-PDL Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Wristbreaker Sword withScabbard

U S Civil War Model 1840 Tiffany Wristbreaker Heavy Cavalry Officers Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked "Tiffany & Co" over "New York" and on the reverse is P. L inside a circle made of dots, which stands for. Luneschloss of Solingen, Germany, they imported blades for Tiffany. The guard is made of iron, it does have some light rust scattered throughout.

The grip is missing 75% of the leather, but. The twisted wire wrap is complete and slightly loose due to the leather loss under it. The blade is straight, looks unsharpened but is sharp, has a few nicks towards the lower half, age spots throughout, light surface rust on one side on the lower half, the tip is sharp and has a very minor bend only at the last 1/8 of the tip. The scabbard is solid, two dents near the drag, and has light scattered surface rust scattered throughout.

The leather washer is intact. Length of the blade is 35 3/8" (1 3/16" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 41 1/8", and in the scabbard it is 43 1/4. Check out my other Civil War Items!
