This is a very nice example of an U. Civil War Officer's Sword, Model 1850. It is mounted with a beautiful blade that measures 31 1/2 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with all of its gorgeous bright and frost etching still present and only some minor surface staining. The lovely gilded brass guard is wonderfully detailed with floral pierced work and also remains very nice in its condition with a deep rich aged patina now developed but much of the original gold wash still peeking through. The fishskin covered hilt has also survived wonderfully and still wears its original twisted wire wrap tightly in place.
The leather scabbard is a bit weathered to its leather finish, nevertheless remains very nice with all the stitching still tightly intact and much of the original gold was still present on its fittings as well. A portion of the leather hanger straps also remain present. Overall measuring 38 1/4inches in length. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
